Latin America is nearly 2/3rds of the world. This means that nearly 2/3rds of the entire worlds' population speaks Spanish. What a mission field! What a need for us to to learn another language!

Saltillo is situated at an elevation of 5,210 feet, in the Anahuac region ("country by the waters" in the Aztec language). Over 1 million people reside in Saltillo nestled in the mountains of Mexico.

The money exchange rate right now is approximately 10 to 1. For every US Dollar, you will receive 10 pesos. It sounds like a lot when you figure for $100.00, that's 1,000.00 pesos. But the economy is not good. Most things are just as expensive there as they are in America. Unfortunately, when the Mexican's work, they are not paid well, so they are striving to make it for their families. Most ranchos and barrios we seen had little to no electricity.

This is a group from Calvary Temple Church in Edmond Oklahoma that went down to Saltillo in June. This picture was taken at the Hope Mission of Derramadero. This is an ophanage that is overseen by Carlos and Martha Barrios. We did some major work and ministry in this area!

Kids at Orphanage

Shonda and I were so proud of this group. They blended into the environment and we never heard a complaint. They fell in love with the people, especially the children. Our ministry there was a success! We were blessed to give towards several projects. With just a few hundred dollars, they have built a new roof on one of their buildings for the Bible Students. We were also able to bless the Hope Mission of Derramadero with enough to pay about 2 months worth of electricity. Please join us in prayer for these people because there are so many needs.

Us with Old Man

Shonda and I met this man in a little rancho where our team was doing some street evangelism. While going door to door, we came to this little mans house where we absolutely fell in love with him. We had the opportunity to witness to him about Jesus Christ and then we prayed for him!

After gathering the people together, we had a small street crusade for the men, women and children. There were about 40 children that were ministered to. We gave them crayons, coloring books and candy. Many prayed for Jesus to come into their hearts. Shonda spent just a few minutes teaching the women through an interpreter and 5 ladies stepped up to receive Jesus for the first time! It was such a great day. Thank God for Carlos and Martha Barrios for their efforts to this region. Also we would like to thank the Missions For Christ Ministry and Pastors Kerry and Twyla Ruggles for the opportunity to come.
